There’s been a lot of scrutiny directed at who gets coveted cannabis licenses in Nevada, now that recreational pot is legal.
This item appeared in the local Las Vegas newspaper, the Review Journal, a few days ago.
It seems that a certain convicted rapist, who was once the Heavyweight Champion of the World, has been deemed fit to be one of the few, the privileged, the juiced-in licensees.
A few days later, the following article appeared in the same paper. It seems that a court has found background checks on applicants to be insufficient.
Among claims of widespread corruption, a District Court judge ruled in a civlil lawsuit last month that “the state should have conducted more thorough background checks on applicants for marijuana licenses.”
